She’d never been needed before, not for anything or anyone. Nobody had ever held onto her like this, desperate for physical contact and comfort…it was usually something that she longed to do, but was too afraid to try. Who in their right mind would want to hold onto a worthless little git like herself? Not a person she could think of, until now of course. Saul had once, and Jace gave her hugs sometimes, but it was nothing like this.
As the angel held onto her and his breathing slowed, her frazzled brain registered that the shadow monsters were calming down and backing away, going back into the horrible holes that they had come from. Her arms tightened around his shoulders and she closed her eyes finally, relaxing into his body. The girl’s actions were close to identical to his as she slowly fell back asleep. Nose pressed to his fur, taking in deep breaths of his clean and fresh male scent, a small that she’d taken comfort in only once.
The demons in her head receded as well, no longer willing to try to frighten her with the white man curled against her body. They wouldn’t be able to scare her as bad as if she were alone. Burrowing back into the recesses of her mind, the evil images made plans for the next time she slept alone.
