For the duration of Ever’s pregnancy, Ezra had always tried to be the best mate he could be. It was hard, at times, because he couldn’t fully comprehend the change that was going on in her body, but he was still there. Evers hormones raged out of control, she would sleep all too often, she would be in pain. He tried his best to understand but he couldn’t, really. She was frightened and he was frightened. This was all new to them. But he was still there with her every step of the way, even if she didn’t feel like he was. With this, he let her have her space when she needed it.
Another morning had broken with his mate missing, and from the moment he woke up, the male had panicked. She was so far along in her pregnancy that he didn’t think her leaving was the best idea. There was only one real place where she could be, a place she hadn’t visited in weeks. Ezra shot out of bed and tore after his mate’s scent leading him to the stables.
A pathetic sounding bark reached his husky ears and he knew it was her. She was hurt. Or was it time? Pure adrenaline sent the male flying through the air, secui limbs working as fast as they could. He panted, frantically looking for her in the heart of the woods. He couldn’t find her. The male continued running to the barn despite the protests in his limbs. He had never run this fast before, but then again this wasn’t a situation that occurred often in the hybrid’s life.
There. She lay crumpled on the forest floor, and Ezra shot over to her. My moon, he panted exhaustedly, quickly curling up by her side. W-what’s wrong? he could barely get the words out between the gasps for air. He was terrified and had no way to help her. He momentarily thought about bringing her back to the bungalow, but it was so far away and he knew he couldn’t carry her child-heavy body that far. This would have to do until she regained her strength or until the pups were born.
