Ohhh nooo, what happened?

She wished that Itzal had come and done his deed a lot sooner; on time like he should have, and maybe she wouldn’t be injured like she was. It was just as much her fault, though, for not being more alert. She gazed out toward the elk and saw Itzal take it down. The big animal fought, but didn’t fight hard enough because it was dead in minutes. The life was lost within its empty eyes; its heart would not beat anymore. The elk’s body lay limp in the bloodstained, frozen grass. Her mouth was watering, looking at the carcass.

The doe had passed her, but kept a good amount of distance between them breaking her concentration on the dead animal. Axelle had no intentions of hurting the doe anymore, and she watched as the beautiful prey animal limped away with her bloody hind leg. She had a better chance of attracting more predators now that she was bleeding, but Axelle hoped she would reach her herd sooner than later.

When the doe disappeared into the distance, Itzal came over to her and she remembered her wound. The pain was still there, but throughout all of her endeavors she learned to ignore the pain, and it helped somewhat. The pain wasn’t something that took over her mind anymore when she got injured. Other things were allowed to take over like food, life, others. Right now, Itzal was in her mind as he approached. ”I don’t think so… not that deep anyway.” She lay down, and curled her wolf body to lick it. The blood tasted alkaline-like, and it didn’t make her hungry. Her own blood never did- maybe it was because of what she ate. The things she consumed never made her blood taste like that of her prey. Then again, she never put vegetarian consumables in her mouth either.

After they both checked out her wound, and she figured she would be alright. The elk’s antler did slice a nice wound into her leg, but it wasn’t too deep and she wouldn’t bleed to death, either. When she was done licking all the blood away, she got up and tried very hard to walk as normal as she could over to their kill. She hated limping, and eating with another was something she wasn’t used to. She had the insane urge to growl at him when he took the first bite, but she managed to keep it down. She dug into the elk’s carcass on the opposite side he was on. Ripping away the skin, she tore into what muscles she could get at. She ate like a true wolf, getting the white part of her face as bloodstained as eating would allow. The meat was a treat. She hadn’t eaten like this in a while, and it was nice to let her instincts take over again.

The meal was fulfilling, and after a good whopping of meat she was getting pretty full. Her part of the body was gutted with just bloody bones, fat and skin left. One of the rear legs had been totally stripped and was now just bones lying in the messy grass. She took one and went little ways away with it, and began to gnaw. She watched Itzal silently with a smirk as she enjoyed her elk knee.
