His new acquaintance seemed a bit confused at what he’d said, a moment later speaking up in her stuttering manner to clarify that it was the library that she was confused about. He glanced down at the books he held and considered it for a moment. The library and books just sort of went hand in hand for the young man. “A library is like… a big room to keep books in,” he explained, shrugging one shoulder slightly. That seemed like the best way to explain what it was. “I dunno why it’s called a library, though, and not just like ‘book room’ or something,” he continued with an awkward laugh. It was probably a stupid thing to call it, something straightforward like that. Library just seemed like such a weird word, though. Made it sound fancy, he guessed.

He nodded when she said he was just wandering, cerulean gaze turning to her face. Oh, he was familiar with that one. The boy had spent way more time than he liked to admit just wandering the halls here when he was younger. “Hmm. Hope ya aren’t getting lost too bad—Oh, hey.” He cut himself off, nodding toward an arching doorway in the stone wall just ahead of them. “There’s the library. I can show ya.” The boy continued on into the room, pausing just inside the entryway. A torch flickered forlornly on the wall to his left, providing dim but sufficient light through the room. There was a small table at its center and stacks of books scattered throughout, some lined up on makeshift shelves along one of the walls. “Ta-da.” The boy shifted his stack of books to one arm and then waved to the room at large with his newly freed hand and grinned down at Tawny.
