He had no horse, so he stood on the ground before his leader. Vysengi looked solidly at Maska, holding onto the hilts of his daggers tightly. They had been a gift from his older brothers when he told the family of his intentions of leaving the Great Tribe to join with Maska and his efforts to help the AniWayans. So little had been brought back to the Tribe in the form of information, so Vysengi simply took the mission as something good and blindly followed the way here. He had found a war raging and he was needed as a warrior. His pride swelled at it all, and he knew he was going to do his part here. He would do well. Sure, some of it was pretty messed up, but he pushed those thoughts away, deep and far, and served the councilman with blind reverence.
Maska touched Yanna's shoulder and the Zacot nodded in her direction before glancing toward the interior of the Kingdom they were invading. He swallowed hard, never having seen true war before in his life. He was a fighter and trained in it, but a full blown raid? That was something new to him. But he was ready to do whatever it took to help the son of his Chief. It was all part of the deal. Maska walked away from the group as they conferred. Vysengi couldn't help but notice that he would not partake in the fighting. That was how it should be, but he still felt a small pang of anger. True leaders would ride in with the party and fight if his cause was righteous. But Maska was no fighter, and Vysengi knew that his own blasphemous ideas were wrong. "Let's start this," he said solidly toward Yanna, knowing that the fight was to be had.
