Dreams always knew how to make a person feel good. Within a dream a seemingly bad person could be a saint. As he gently snored the Trovato hybrid smiled through his steady drooling. In his dream he was back in Italy and he was in charge of the City. If he were to return now it was certain that he could instantly take hold of the reins due to his parents deaths. The thought filled him with glee. Never would anyone ask about Matteo Trovato, as his name would be forbidden. He could run things the way he pleased and everyone would bow at his feet as though he were royalty.
A squeak interrupted his dream, rousing him slightly with a grumpy grunt but quickly he settled back into his slumber. With the shaking of his shoulder the smaller man grumpily grumbled, “What?” in a sleepy voice. As Gemma’s voice assured him that he must awake he rolled onto his back and began to rub his eyes. He knew better than to ignore the woman as she was very close to her birthing date. However as he opened his eyes a wiggling blanket caught his attention. A smile flooded onto his face as a muddy face peeked around from under the material.
Sitting up he looked to Gemma, for once his emotions were of pure joy. He was a father! Her saddened expression caused his heart to speed and his senses to go on the alert. Terror hit him as he noted the bundle beside her. “Gemma…?” He whispered. From the smell he knew what lay hidden in the towel but he darn not look himself. How many had she lost? Silently he motioned for her to pass the wiggling pup to him for inspection. Was there something wrong with this one?
