The huntress sat on a fallen log at the edge of a pond. Its murky waters rippled as Saxif threw stones into it; her mind rampant with crippling thoughts of despair. Her failure in the past month weighed on her constantly and everyone she knew had known it. She was sure of it anyway for as she looked into the distorted image on the waters she knew she looked terrible. Her hair was a complete mess, her eyes were dull amber than a vibrant gold and the useless splinted arm rested on her lap as she slumped. She threw another stone at her reflection growing tired of the sight.
She was getting tired of everything, the thoughts, the helplessness, the anger & most of all the guilt. She took a deep breath trying to keep her emotions at bay. If she had not broken her arm she would have filled the day with training and running to avoid it. Since her routine could no longer be followed she chose to do nothing. She sighed attempting to skip a flat stone, it fell into the water with nothing but a ‘gunk’ into the dark water. This forced her to grab the final of her stone pile and she threw it with great force into the pond. She winced as her arm shifted and wondered when the pain would stop. Even something so simple was unobtainable to the girl for her right hand had been her dominant hand but now it rested upon her lap useless. She sighed wondering what was there to do now.
