1.Exhaustion held Terra in it's grips after her first shift. She had known that her father had left because he was different. She hadn't realized exactly how different he was. Straightening Terra examined herself. A long scratch ran down her forepaw. She'd changed in a space that was much too small for her optime form. It had felt right, natural; the energy that had filled her was gone, however. She had wasted it in blind panic, with nobody to tell her why it had happened or what it meant. What could she do now? Terra considered her options, with a new clarity she hadn't held before. Time had held no meaning, but now the rise and fall of the moon filled her with panic, a reminder that change would come. It wasn't the expected change of death, or birth, or hardship. Those were as familiar as the scent of her pack. Instead it was an inner change of ability, not earned but sudden, unexpected.

She could shackle these gifts. Easily Terra could pretend nothing had changed, and return to the pack as if nothing had happened. Even as she thought this Terra dismissed the thought. It wasn't in her nature to turn away from the unknown. Always boundaries were to be pushed. Her pack had been among the first to push into the cities the humans had left when they disappeared. She wouldn't dishonor them by turning away from the unknown now. Terra thought again. The pack wouldn't turn her away, but did she steal belong? After all, they weren't like her. She wouldn't be able to learn about what had happened to her by remaining. The gifts could help her pack though. Terra remembered the cold of winter and the thinness as one had died to become food for them. With her help that would never have to happen again. But was that right? No, these were her gifts. Terra didn't think she could share them. That left only one path. Terra would have to leave everything behind and see if she could find what her father had left for. She wouldn't look for him, but maybe the knowledge that he'd left behind.

2.Slinking over the cold Terra shivered. She hadn't eaten in a couple weeks. The few prey she'd come across were too fast for her to catch on her own. A couple times she'd tried out her secui form to see if that would help, but the prey were even more frightened by her scent, and she was unused to being so large. Not even natural grace could help her squeeze through a space she was much too large for. Terra growled in frustration when a new scent caught her. It was musky, something that she would have noticed earlier if she hadn't been so focused on her stomach. Afraid Terra crouched down as a huge bear entered the clearing.

Behind him he dragged a large deer. Terra's mouth watered at the sight. She had no idea how the bear had managed to take it down, but that didn't matter. She would eat that deer! The question was, what to do with the bear? Terra smiled as an idea formed. Clinging to the ground Terra edged forward whimpering. The bear turned at the noise, confused at the unexpected noise. He blinked in surprise at the small creature approaching him. Didn't it realise he was more powerful? The bear let out a growl, but it kept coming. Enraged the bear took a swipe. Howling the coyote rolled away in obvious pain. Grinning the bear thudded after it, only to have it dart past him and tear a huge chunk off the deer before dashing into the woods. The bear howled, frustrated at having it's kill snatched. Terra grinned. It wasn't much, but it would feed her.
