After the run in with Chisio, she needed to get out. She wasn’t entirely sure how she had turned into a quasi-scout for Salsola, but either way, she wasn’t sure if she liked it. She didn’t want more responsibility, even though she did want more prestige in the pack. After she left the loner be, she ran back into the heart of the pack, fled west to the stables, picked up Trader, and left. She hadn’t ever ridden before, but after watching a few pack members mess with the tack she figured it was easy enough to figure out. She probably hooked up a few things wrong but the buckskin didn’t seem to mind. She flew out of the territory just as quickly as she had come, only taking time to cross the Pictou at a very shallow section she knew about.
The horse was glad to get out, and he was happy to jump right into a gallop. The girl was a little nervous, but after a few minutes she got the hang of it. It was pretty scary, seeing land beneath her fly so fast behind her. She let the horse go at its own pace, so after a while he slowed down. They continued east, the girl having no destination in mind. She just wanted to get out.
The pale wolf finally got off Trader’s back as night fell. She had been riding all day and both parties were exhausted. She didn’t know how to light a fire but the coat she inherited from her actic wolf father made the chilly night air really pleasant, so she didn’t even need one. She let the horse graze and without anything else to do, she sat down and started watching the stars as one by one they came out. She sighed happily, glad with her decision to leave.
