It Flourished with Understanding

The feline's countenance was placid, a perfectly calm representation of his race. He lay in the soft grass, staring at what was a gray and blue sky. Animals grazed by him - some deer in the distance, that which he could sense by smell and by the sound of their heavy feet crunching the grass below, squirrels squeaking and chattering in the trees above, bugs and lizards scrambling around to avoid the seeking eyes of blue jays and cardinals. Another sensation of life joined the fray - although Element did not twitch nor move from his spot, his nose and ears caught wind of a Luperci just around the corner, and from the soft and quiet stance of whoever it was, it appeared that she, a female by her scent, must be hunting.

Not for long, it seemed, however, as the Luperci's careful and quiet demeanor changed, and Element heard the bending of the grass and smelled another creature - this time it was an owl. He heard the female Luperci's voice, slightly angry, talking to it - the owl, of course, would not be able to understand her, unless it was a rather intelligent owl. Birds could be smart, Element knew, which was one of the reasons he did not hunt them. Particularly crows and ravens - they were among the smartest, and he knew that a few could even speak.

The owl, however, was no crow nor raven, and so was perhaps not as intelligent as one. Deciding to move from his spot, he got up, stretched his legs out, and stealthily walked towards the voice of the Luperci and the sound of the owl. When he was in sight of them, he simply sat in the ground and stared with emerald eyes for a moment before considering what the pair were doing - hunting? If so, why be so loud about it?
