For Mars

Mati led the llama slowly. The shaggy creature had been easily frightened after the confrontation at Tallermein's Cottage where he and his partner stayed. Francis followed though, trust placed back into the she-wolf after a few visits and a few hours spent recreating the bond that the AniWayan guardians had broken. She had taken him apples as well, bribes seemed to work the best, and now she felt as if there was a mutual trust between them.

They walked though the narrow streets of the village, the only sounds that of the wind and the birds that chose to make their nests in the gutters of the houses and the cracks in the walls. She sought out supplies, though not the ordinary things that still survived after the human's left. She looked for brushes, paint, or anything else that may aid her in picking up her art once more.

Since the war she had not been able to even look at a canvas or pick up a pencil. She felt a hole in her heart, without the creative outlet there was something missing. Francis was the perfect partner to help, his legs steady and hearty back able to carry anything she might find.

A sign hung lopsided from a hook that protruded from above the shops door. From down the street she read it was a bookstore, and Mati was sure it had been pillaged of its notable volumes. But perhaps there were still a few things left behind. Purple eyes sought the door and headed for it.
