The woman that came was younger than him, and her voice had a light, slight accent to it that fit with all he had heard about this peculiar place. Too civilized for his liking, but the civilized world offered him what the savage could not. Ezekiel dismounted his mare with ease, not wishing to appear as if he was talking down to the woman. While not a man who took to political life well, Ezekiel had watched many a trade occur and knew what was to be done.
“I am Ezekiel de le Poer, Aquila of Inferni,” he began, returning her introduction so they might be on level ground. “And I come with an offer for you. Word is that your pack holds some birds here that lay eggs year round, and I was hoping to acquire some.” Why he did not say, for the whole issue was a personal desire and did nothing for Inferni at all…except gain them chickens, he hoped.
“This colt,” the Aquila went on, and drew the paler horse forward. “Is young, but he’ll grow large. He’d be useful to help move things; his mother is trained for it.” He looked to the other horse, hoping seeing the mare who foaled the grayish colt would prove his points. “I’m here to offer him in exchange for some of those birds.”
