private for liiiin. yep, she's fainted on horseback, lol. Tongue kind of a rambly-post. kind of unsure about the date for this, so it may need to be backdated a bit; i'll let you know. had it typed up like 3 days ago @_@

Sage River Lykoi was horrified. She ran on four legs; two had not been fast enough; Lennon had spooked at the sight of death and the scent of blood, and she was alone now, running. She didn't know what was happening there when she came hurrying, only that it was urgent. She'd rushed, and she'd arrived, vaulting off of Lennon's back to rush forward; but it had been too late. All three were injured, but two of them collapsed and bled out as she stared, unable to move. The traitorous woman had Ezekiel's arrow through her heart; a ruthless, dead-on shot. The shock had frozen her, golden eyes large as suns. Her hands had clasped over her mouth and she'd turned and bolted on the spot, heartbeat pounding in her head as adrenaline pumped through her. No, no, she thought, incapable of understanding why. Sage had known there was something just wrong about that Chapel woman. Was it her fault? Her face was hot with confusion, horror, and upset. She could do nothing but go.

Her pace slowed once she reached the Mansion, noticing that Lennon had beaten her there; he stood idly, as if nothing had happened, munching on a dying patch of grass. Frustrated, she bolted through the Mansion doors and up the stairs, shifting again onto two legs once she was in her room. She'd had nothing with her when she'd been out earlier, so Sage shouldered her back and grabbed two thick blankets, just in case. Rushing back out, she ran to Lennon and climbed up, urging him north. Away, out, far from here. She could still taste the metal in the air.

It was getting dark fast, so she pressed Lennon as fast as he would go through the forest and to the base of the mountain. Her grip was tight as his large body navigated the rocky, angled terrain with heavy cloven feet. His strength made the trip up the face of Halcyon Mountain swift and bearable, but Sage noted his heavy snorting as they ascending, stroking his mane to assure him; they'd be stopping soon.

They came to a rest atop the cliff as Sage paused, admiring her father's land in the dying light. For a moment, her nausea subsided, but as the sun's orange glow faded faster, she knew she had to get someone's attention and get inside. If she were unluckily alone on the mountain this night, who knew what might take advantage of her vulnerability. The tawny Lykoi tossed back her head and let out a series of weak, urgent yips, ending in a brief, shaky howl. It was a request for her father only; she needed him now more than ever.

Every time a twig snapped or a leaf rustled, Sage's head would turn, nervous and hyper-alert. Her nerves were shot, and she couldn't stop shaking, even now. Her stomach turned, and she thought she might retch, but instead she collapsed forward onto Lennon's sturdy neck, her body going limp as she passed out. The horse glanced back and snorted once before continuing to rummage.
