YOU'RE HERE AND THEN YOU'RE GONE

He still was not used to living in a place with other canines. Back in his last pack, the territory had spread far and wide but with little manmade structures. Everyone in the pack found their own den – or made their own shelter – but they were not nearly this close to each other. Tedros’ sat there, trying to concentrate on his new book, but found it hard not to be engulfed in the heavy aromas all around him.

One familiar scent caught his attention as it grew stronger. A female Lykoi. Well that narrowed it down. The coyote flicked his ear in mild annoyance and continued to read the first sentence of “Royal Seduction” over and over until finally there was a knock on the door. The coyote sighed lightly, running a hand through his mane before setting the book down. He stood and went towards the door, slightly relieved that it was Myrika and not one of her relatives.

Tedros opened the door to reveal the young woman, a smile embracing his maw. Their first meeting had been short, but nice. There was definitely some sort of chemistry between the two, and his tail wagged slightly as a sign of it. “Hey, is everything all right?” he asked, not sure exactly why she’d be knocking on his door at this time of night. Maybe it was some sort of untapped fatherhood that made him curious, or maybe it was just his passive aggressive way of saying that she was interrupting him. He preferred to think it was the former.

The old coyote stepped out of the way and motioned her inside.
