Octa had been cooped up in the caves for about three days in a row, taking care of his tiny cave full of frogs. As he’d wandered around, the plump white furred pup began stealing small things from around his home. Three candles were lifted from different places and taken back to his little room, then a long length of dark blue cloth and a big piece of deer skin. Without really realizing it, he was making the tiny hole in the wall into a home for himself. A little bed was made from the cloth and skin, and the candles were his version of decorating. By the time it was done he was so pleased…but there needed to be more!

It was time to go outside and search for more things to include to his own personal space, the place where his mother couldn’t find him and his brothers ignored. Scampering down the long dark corridors, he quickly came upon one of the entrances to the cave system and made his way out. The sun was bright and it took a few minutes for his red eyes to adjust properly. When he could finally see where he was going, the young boy began wandering around with his nose to the ground. Tracking things had become a new favorite game lately. Being able catch and follow a scent until he find whatever it belonged to was rather exciting.

Target acquired. He caught the scent of…Io, and her new pups. Mama had told him about the new babies when they were born, and he’d been meaning to go and meet them. Yipping loudly, he kicked up into a trot and followed the smell until he could hear a female voice and the sounds of soft whimpering or talking. The pups were still young, so it must be them making the cute noises. ”Miss Io? Can I come meet the babies?” Octavius had stopped about fifteen feet away and was watching the woman cautiously, hoping she recognized him.
