Mid-evening at the borders of AniWaya.
Returning from one of his usual trips to Halifax, Matteo was in brighter spirits; he'd met a woman from the homelands... sort of. Her name was Amy Sunders and she'd been in a business partnership with his father at one point, a while back. The relative familiarity was a good feeling, one that left Teo in a fantastic mood. Not only had he met a blast from his past... but he might've found the right person for the job.
Alaki wouldn't stand a chance against a trained killer like her. Especially considering how dangerous assassins from the homeland were. Hopefully she'd be able to get the job done and Matteo would be able to rest easy from then on.
Jericho had slowed her pace about halfway back from Halifax and as they reached the border, she made it clear as day to him that she wanted to stop and rest; the village was still a ways away and as long as they were in friendly territory, Teo saw no problem with it. He dismounted on the other side of the fence and left the mare to wander, keeping her in close range just in case.
In the meantime, he dug out an old friend from his bag; the flute his mother had given him. The old thing was still in good shape and he proved it as he sat down on an old stump and started to play a soft tune, one that whistled through the air as if it were a natural part of the scenery.
As much as he'd learned to appreciate Inferni, Teo had come to know AniWaya as home. Hopefully, someday, he'd be able to convince Gemma of the same thing.
