Aemon's face fell as he watched the pair react; he'd expected it, but it still hurt him. His chest felt heavy as he sighed, turning to stare off into the distance as if it would bring Gabriel to them. If only, he thought miserably. That would've made everything better, but Ezekiel had assured him that it was unlikely, so Aemon did not place his faith in the man that he didn't even know. Instead, he would work hard beside his brothers to provide for the home that his father made, in hopes that one day he would see it.
Ithiel moved, and for a moment Aemon was scared. Would his brother really leave him? Of course not, was the answer he was assured when his Ithiel's path returned. He heaved a breath of relief at Kastra's words, grateful that she would at least give it some time. Aemon had only seen the surface of Inferni, but he knew that it was worth their time. "Good, good," he said, nodding with relief. "There are plenty of open caves," he added. His Captain asked about Ezekiel next, and Aemon smiled. "Ezekiel is a good man; he works hard, and he's still pretty young. They say he's a good Aquila," the silvery coywolf finished, believing it. Though Aemon had not truly seen the older coyote in action, only occasionally glimpsing the end of one of sessions with Max, but he could tell that Ezekiel was worthy of sharing their blood.
