Magpie comes a calling drops a marble from the sky

haaaay, you're back from vacation now so I guess I should respond to this :o

Her son rolled his eyes at her for her theatrics, but it did not sting or hurt her. She was purposefully being a bit over-the-top and as her child it was his job to find her a bit ridiculous or embarrassing at times. It was simply the way of parents and children. Besides, she was fairly certain he was proud of her more often then he was shamed. As he bent over to give her a hug, she lightly wrapped her slim arms around him and patted his back affectionately. Non ho saputo dove quella nave andava, Silvano, lei sa ciò, she said with a roll of her own eyes. Still, she had a feeling that the Fates had intended for her to board that specific ship. It could not be mere coincidence that her brother had ended up on these very same shores a matter of moons after she had.

Her son pulled up a chair to sit beside her and as soon as his body sat down she could see all the telltale signs of his anxiety before he even spoke the words the said as much. Savina gently folded the corner of the page she was on to mark her place before closing the book, signalling that she was focusing all her attention upon him and their conversation and whatever problems he had come to speak with her about. Family came before all else for the Marino woman; she would drop anything to be there for her children.

Silvano spoke of Giselle, the rather naive but sweet girl that she had accepted into the pack some time ago. By his calling her pretty the mother could already tell where this was going, but she kept her smile from her face so as not to risk her son thinking she was amused at his distress. Yes, I know Giselle. Not well, but she seems a very nice girl. A subtle encouragement. What Silvano said next had a double and opposite effect on the matron. It was of course a little unnerving to think of one's young son in that context, but at the same time she knew he hadn't meant it that way which made it amusing. In fact, she had to stifle a chuckle before he hurriedly corrected himself. Though when the word "mate" came from his lips all risk of laughing disappeared.

Silvano, ready to become someone's mate? It was a bit of a shock to her, but at the same time, it was a surprise of the pleasant kind. Savina reached out and took one of her son's hands in her two, a gesture meant to calm him. Yes, I know what you mean Silv, her accented tones spoke softly. It made her mind briefly run back to the day Kansas had asked her to be his mate. One of the happiest days of her life. You two have been spending time together then? She feels the same for you? As a protective mother, she needed at least some seed of comfort to know her dear boy was not about to lay his heart on the chopping block of some girl who didn't return his feelings.
