Morning had past. It was already noon when Wolfgang had stepped into a strange world, a strange world filled with vibrant plants that he had never seen before. His former home had been cold, too cold for prized flowers to grow well. His ears were pointed towards them, though his lips and eyes remained mostly emotionless. The sun was out yet with a slight overcast of clouds, winter clouds. It wasn’t a rare sight to him, no; it was a sight in the sky that had reminded him of home after a heavy dusting of snow. Most of the plants had already died with the frost gained the night before. His trip here had brought him stepping with the familiar touch of cold snow on the ground and the crisp smell of winter in the air.

There were perhaps only a dozen of these vibrant yellow flowers left standing. His eyes drew over each, looking at their petals that had lost much of its sheen. The ends were colored a dark brown, as if it were rotting before him. Though it wasn’t the decay of this unknown plant that had caused him to be curious and to approach them, it was the frost sparkled over. It froze the plant, and when the sun touched just perfectly, it looked as if the flower truly shined. He leaned forth, his cloak siding with the motion, as he reached out his right hand to touch the edge of one of the petals. It was cold, of course, the ice melting in his hand at the sudden warmth, and then, the petal withered to the ground, floating and ending just between his feet.

Puzzled, the hybrid leaned over, carefully and hesitant of his injuries along his shoulder and hind leg. He only straightened once the decayed once yellow petal was between his finger tips.
