Insomnia yawned quietly as she spurred Laevastik towards... empty space. It was ridiculous of her to expect something to appear, but the tired woman still hoped that it would, even if it were just a wilted flower blowing past her narrow snout in the chill breeze.
Though the pale jackayote shivered, she still enjoyed the frost and the cold. It kept her awake some days; on others comforted her that her family felt the same chill and were safe in their home. In her backpack, kept out of the chill, Armsaim purred quietly in her nest of blankets. Insomnia could easily picture the cat cuddling the little toy fish that she had made, the one with a sachet of catnip nestled inside. A small smile curving on her black lips at the thought of her companion and dearest friend, Insomnia patted Laevastik on his strong neck and let him edge towards a canter.
When she saw the other person, the jackayote stilled her horse and sat there quietly as she watched him. When he carefully touched a flower petal, she felt the need to speak. "Isn't it sad?" she asked. "How easily they die?" She felt almost awkward imposing on the man's thoughts, but she felt the need to say that. It was sad, how quickly they died. Like so many things, it was terribly sad.
