Boothe opened his eyes immediately after the older woman's voice echoed over to them, spinning around and swiveling his ears atop his head eagerly. Sophie went more carefully, blinking her eyes open and then twisting around to look about and see what had changed. Of course, both puppies immediately noticed the large pile of dug up snow, but Boothe's first thought was that it was a trick, and said so--more loudly than Sophie might have--to his sister.
While Boothe turned to look at the other side of the clearing, Sophie twitched her nose at the pile of snow, her thoughts not quite so complicated as her brother's. He might have done fake hiding places, left obvious signs as to where he might be, and then run off to some sneakier place; but Sophie didn't think that way. She'd rather hide somewhere sneaky right off the bat, and leave no sign that she'd been there at all. And they were beginners at this game, after all, so maybe the obvious choice was the right one?
But she took the time to examine the snow from where she stood, and when Boothe began calling out that he heard Terra moving around over near the den, she noticed the odd shadow that moved...sorta like an ear. "You in the snow!" She shouted, and then, wagging her tail, added, "I see you'ms ear!"
