Titania Moonsong
if nothing ever changed, there'd be no butterflies

All it had taken was for Zalen to enter her life and the world was suddenly on fast forward at a speed the young girl was oh so ready for. In just over a month she had taken big steps towards a glorious future. One bold, strong move had her separate from her pack. Another had her mates with Zalen. Her mother and father now knew where she was and that she was safe, so worrying about them wasn't hanging over her head anymore. There were no storm clouds, only bright, blue skies.

She and her love had arrived here a day ago, having come from the south back to the place in the Halcyon Mountains where they had met, just like they planned. There was much to be done and it would require diligence and hard work, but the two didn't stop once in their quest yesterday, and today they would be hard at work, too. Their first task was to simply scout out the area – find out just who or what lived here. There was a plethora of geography with the mountains, valleys, and shoreline, so there was much to know about this place. They still had a lot to learn – or at least, she did – but one thing was for certain; this place was devoid of almost all human creation. It was wild, feral, like them. Like their family would be...

They had discovered one place, however, along an old crumbling highway. It was a rest stop of sorts with a couple buildings, but in the decades since its abandonment it looked to belong to mother nature more than it did to the humans that once ruled the Earth. It would be okay, they had decided, it was easily avoidable. Or... even better... it could be a place of spirit, a symbol of power. They could give it back to nature...

It was thoughts like this that ran through her mind now as she walked among a rocky snow drift. It was a rare moment when Zalen was not with her, but now that they had circled once and had an idea of the territory that they wanted to call home they could cover more ground if they split up. Scent markers needed to be laid, and they knew the place was relatively safe to traverse one by one. Still, he was but a howl away. Out of sight, but not out of earshot... nor mind.

The snow crumbled beneath her paws. Titania gasped and lunged forward, her light body easily sailing up to a powdery rock. She watched as some of the snow rolled down the hillside. It was hardly an avalanche, and certainly wouldn't have killed her, but it would have been back tracking for sure. As the small snow-slide came to a stop her golden eyes turned away from that spot and she gazed out to the area she trekked, the mountainside that would be part of their home.
