Sometimes Things Are Too Broken

Her mind was fuzzy as she woke from her alcohol induced slumber. Her mouth tasted as though something small and furry had crawled inside it and died during the night. Although she was awake she didn't dare open her eyes just yet, the throbbing in her head warned that it would be a very bad idea. She could hear the constant wash of waves somewhere nearby to her and simply assumed she was somewhere in the northern part of the AniWaya territory. It never occurred to her that she would be on an island out to sea and she never thought to use her nose to give her information, the woman was not very practical like that. But when the female finally opened her eyes she found completely unfamiliar land a second before the setting sun sent daggers of glass into her brain, it was like hell on earth and as Gemma shifted her position her feet brushed against what felt like several bottles, probably the remnants of what she had drunk last night.

She moaned out loud and gripped her ears with her hands, cringing as that only made the pain worse. Soft whimpers left her lips and then she noticed she was really thirsty, the thought of ingesting anything also making her stomach churn nauseatingly. In a stroke of extremely good luck or maybe it was simply fate, inebriated Gemma had crashed next to a small pool of fresh water left over from a rainstorm. She opened her eyes slightly keeping them shut as much as possible while still being able to see and spotted the pool. Slowly she began to crawl the few feet towards it. It seemed to take forever but finally she reached it and managed to lap down a few mouthfuls before her gut threatened to send it all back up. She stayed in that spot, laid on the floor for a good several hours until her head had lessened its throbbing and her stomach no longer threatened to turn at every breath. That's not to say she was better, she still felt like crap but at least now she was able to make herself mobile.

Getting to her feet was a struggle but she managed it eventually after several attempts resulting in her ploughing into the sand. After a while she was up and off and soon found that there wasn't much on this island to explore. As the light began to truly dim that was when Gemma realised she was not alone. A warm orange glow in the distance make her aware of other persons in the island. Cautiously she made her way towards the light which was a good ten minutes walk away across the earth. Her handover had apparently temporarily removed her social awkwardness for she didn't hesitate on coming closer like she usually would have done, once she was in hearing range of the doggish looking woman she called out to her,

"Hello! Do you know how to get off this island?"
