Since Angel knows his name by their next thread, maybe have him introduce himself? <<

The game was afoot, and Enkiel found little pleasure in such a thing. If the man did not wish to introduce himself, he would not—the medic’s purpose was one that came with his name, and one way or another, the dark man would find such a thing out. Rank afforded him this; talented afforded him this. Enkiel had proven himself more than a dozen times over now, and he would not stoop for some mongrel with no ties to the clan beyond the simple oath Ezekiel demanded.

Black hair was tousled by the wind, though Enkiel did not move his hand to adjust this. Max, bored, shifted his weight and eyed the man still. “Yes, so your scent tells me,” the jackal commented. “What brought you here?” It was a question intended to probe for what Enkiel sensed; this man was made for cities and for civilization. Why had he come out into the wilderness when there were ports and villages south? Criminal, perhaps, or some strange sort of redemption. After all, Enkiel had learned very quickly of the faith that was so proudly displayed by the cross. They believed strange things, oh yes, but it was not entirely unfamiliar.
