Word Count → 404 :: For mah Freddy-Fred-Fredder friend. <3

The sun was beginning to dip below the treeline, darkening the area below the canopy though it was not yet evening. Just after late noon, actually, in that time before dinner and after lunch that was reserved for playing, or napping, depending on who you asked. Sophie was doing neither of these things; she was far too concerned with the sudden inactivity in her home. Someone--she didn't know his name, only that he looked funny and couldn't see--had come and stayed long enough to help Leon, bandaging the wounds Sophie hadn't been aware were bothering him and giving him funny leafy things that were supposed to make him feel better.

They did. But they also made him sleep, and with Brother Trigger too busy watching over Brother Leon to play with them, Boothe and Sophie were left alone to entertain themselves. It was boring. They'd played I'm Better for a while, and then that new hiding game that Terra had taught them a few weeks back, but after a while they simply collapsed in a pile, Sophie laying across Boothe's back with her head on his shoulders--displaying just how pathetically small she was in comparison to her littermate--with Bug laying, forgotten for a time, only a few feet away. Boothe seemed about to slip into a doze, but Sophie was wide awake. She didn't want to nap, she wanted to play--or...not play. Explore.

Her squirming on top of Boothe woke him from his half-asleep state, and he growled a protest, but she rolled off of him, stumbling for a moment before whirling around to face him, dropping into the play-bow that Skoll had taught her. Boothe immediately mirrored her, ready for another round of whatever game she was thinking of, but she spoke instead. "Hey!" She shouted, and then, quieter, because she didn't want to disturb her older brothers and Leon needed his rest, "Hey! Let's go for...journey! 'Splore!" Boothe blinked at her, and then sat up. They looked at each other, and Sophie watched her brother slowly warm up to the idea before a grin spread across his face. "Yeah! Yeah! Go for...'Venture!" He agreed, and they bounced around each other before quietly dashing out of the clearing, out into the world that existed beyond the small circle that existed around their den.

Or, at least, out into the forest of Ethereal Eclipse.
