Even a fool knows you can't touch the stars

There was a heavy guilt that could be felt in his steps towards the Capitana's house, a remorse for his own carelessness. Years of being alone, and turning a sturdy back to any and all troubles, still never left the craftsman. It was easier that way.. and therefore Bangle never had, nor needed, to care for anyone but himself. Detaching used to be as simple as snapping his own fingers, but things were far different now. He had a family, a family he needed to protect even in the darkest of times, and yet he had closed himself away once more. Bangle belonged wherever his family was, for there he had found home.

In the few heartbeats that it took to open the door ajar, the craftsman could feel the deep, dark loneliness of the house. Erzulie nor Robert were around, and he stopped to swivel a bat-like ear about to the side, hearing the gentle squeaking in Skye's bedroom. Her scent grew stronger as she approached, though her gait was slow, unsteady, with an expression to match. The woman's shoulders were slumped, her hair a mess, the fire gone from her joyous orbs. Bangle's heart sank in that moment, as he took the sight in, letting his own ears droop to express the heaviness that weighed within him.

Driven by a sort of instinct that had a life all its own, he stepped through the threshold, never once taking his bright eyes off the sunken one's of his mate. As he entered, he swung the door closed and stepped forward to take the woman into his arms, noting the sunken look upon her features. To him, Skye looked beaten, defeated, and yet strangely beautiful in that dark hour. Pressing her to him, it was a silent invitation for the woman to let loose everything she had wanted to, a reassuring gesture that the coywolf knew he should have done sooner. The male shut his own eyes, his fingers finding themselves in the deep fire of her hair. "I'm sorry," he whispered, as if it were difficult for his tongue to form the words. "But I'm right 'ere, now." It was all he had - and needed - to say.
