Aemon kept his head high, haughty as he observed her abandon her kill. Crimson eyes stared at it, at her, grey brows knotted together as he watched, stalking ever closer through the low grass. He didn't want the food, not after her mouth had touched it. The Vigiles let the rumble in his throat grow louder. Did she think she could buy his appeasement? He wanted her gone, and her chattering was starting to annoy him. None of it merited response, but when she rose, the darker hairs on his neck rose defensively, gaze kept hard on her for any sign of treachery. In spite of her easygoing nature, Aemon was not easily fooled. He expected trickery and deceit from such wolves, and he refused to let her take him as they'd taken his mother.
The smoke-colored coywolf muttered an acidic, "Good riddance," as he watched her go. It almost surprised him to see her retreat without conflict, and some part of him had hoped it would come to a skirmish. He'd been training hard since his arrival, but he'd yet to really test his skill and prove himself to his half-brother.
His posture relaxed as she disappeared, her scent drifting away slowly. Scarlet gaze fell to the carcass, and with a hard, frustrated kick, he showered the blooded badger with dirt and grass, scowling and turning to head back. He may have felt pangs of hunger creeping up on him, but he would never share a meal with a wolf. It would be a sin that Aemon would never cleanse himself of.
