Creepy Crawlers of the Sea

The young woman got the fire started, and the smoke started lightly puffing from the small area they, meaning she, had chosen as the roasting place. He had sat himself down as the woman went to work on the meal and he began to pull out a pouch from one of his pockets. Inside was some dried sage that he had taken and stored for culinary use in the pack he now called home. He had chosen a handful for use on this trip, though it seemed that Eclipse had everything perfectly handled. Pocketing the pouch, the Russo said nothing on it, knowing he'd just season his own fish with his spice so it would not go to waste. The woman cut pieces of the fish off and set them aside, though she rubbed them with spices. He preferred easy on the spices and chose to use sea salt instead. However, either worked for him; it was a meal in his belly after all.

Curiously, he watched her set up the cooking stand. After making adjustments, she pulled out a frying pan - a frying pan! - and started to roast the fish on it. With a stretch, Anatoliy sat himself down beside the fire and watched the embers sparking. The fish sizzled lightly in the skillet as the fat melted out of the tender flesh. The fishy smell rose into the air, overpowering the scent of the ocean. "Vhere did you learn to cook?" he asked, mostly wondering who had taught her; she seemed fairly young to him. But then again, anyone dramatically shorter than he looked younger and he was exceptionally tall. Not that many canines knew how to cook, let alone use spices as well as cooking materials. He himself had been planning on using sticks to roast the fish though it was easier to fry them filleted.
