sswm 503. Set the day after she's met Jazper ;3 She's trailing the southern borders.

The nasty confrontation with the alpha had left her with only one significant injury. Unfortunately, it wasn’t a physical one. It was her pride that had taken a blow, as it hadn’t in quite some time now. Years on the higher end of the clan’s strict hierarchy had allowed her to nurture her arrogance and self-importance, and so it had been a cruel blow to the face to be met with a similar arrogance on the wolf pack’s plain borders. She usually looked down on her subject, as well as everyone else she happened to meet during her short and few travels outside of the coyote clan’s lands. She knew that it was it was her unofficial duty to bow down when she traced the scented lines of another group’s claim of lands, no matter the rank the individual held, but she wasn’t accustomed to modesty and submission, and it didn’t come naturally to her at all. And if it didn’t come naturally, it didn’t come at all unless it was forced upon her through violence or exceptional reasoning.

The female, beautiful by most standards despite her obvious coyote appearance, still walked with her chin high. She had returned to the borders today, unwilling to creep away into a dark corner to lick her invisible wounds. It wasn’t her style, and she wouldn’t allow a mere stranger to step on her without dealing out consequence. It wasn’t her right to do so, but oh, she did it anyway. She wasn’t looking for added trouble, but she wouldn’t be chased away this easily. But instead of stomping around with anger seething on her fair face, she travelled past the point where she had met this pack’s giant of a leader. He could banish her from his lands, she was fine with that, but it was her right to travel along the stinky line if she willed it so. It would be an advantage to her in the future to know which areas started their claim. Dahlia de Mai had laid claim to these areas once, but the new pack had drawn up their lines differently. At least it seemed the land the new pack held was smaller than the disbanded giant before them. Greedy bastards!

She now roamed along the pack’s southern borders, headed towards the west and the unfamiliar lands beyond. It wasn’t too long ago that she had followed her Aquila and a handful of people to execute a silent raid inside the wolf tribe’s home, but she wasn’t intent on making the same long journey a second time without a reason. She just followed her feet’s desire to wander, and while she knew she should be back home with her children for now, she didn’t turn and head home. She wanted a fuller taste of this freedom before it was time to toss in the towel.

Your faith walks on broken glass
