Hotaru
Sometimes the light that guides us along our paths, is not something that we can see, but something deep inside of us.

More questions. Or to be more precise, the same question asked in a different fashion. Juliet seemed intent on prying into business that was not hers. Most would take a hint when Hotaru refused to answer their questions, so this girl was either dumb or... no just dumb. Prying was dumb, especially if you prying into Hotaru's business. She would not talk about her past, she had even abandoned her last name to avoid talking about it. As far as Hotaru was concerned she had no past and thus no reason to explain Fawkes's behavior.

Still Hotaru knew that outright ignoring her single question a second time was the hight of rudeness. Why Juliet was so desperate for answers, Hotaru didn't know nor did she particularly care. "It's not that he doesn't like others, he just doesn't like others getting close to me. He is, as you said earlier, protective. AND, I don't know why." As Hotaru said the overemphasized word, she closed her eyes and did not open them till the lie was finished. It was Hotaru's tell, a little habit that she did when she lied and it was one she couldn't seem to rid herself of completely. On most days, she could hide the tell, but now she was annoyed and wasn't paying attention to her little habit.

Fawkes couldn't help but stare at Juliet when she issued the compliment. Compliments were always an easy way to get on his good side, yet the strange wolf had managed to place herself on his master's bad side. Fawkes looked between Hotaru and Juliet, he wasn't quite sure how to act. On one had, she did call him pretty, but on the other Hotaru didn't seem to like her. Fawkes, unlike many, could easily read Hotaru and her many moods. Fawkes turned his attention back to Juliet, puffing slightly in pride. After all, he should do his best to look pretty if she thought he was. "Pretty wolf," he chirped, showing off his knowledge of high speech.

Fawkes had always been a sucker for compliments or treats and Hotaru knew it. Her mood soured even further when she heard the snow crunch under Juliet's weight. She must have sat down, which meant she wasn't leaving. Hotaru cursed her luck, but gave a small smile as if she was amused by Fawkes's comment. Oh how she wished Juliet would just go away.
