Budding Strangeness

She brushed back against him and he smiled happily, her ears lowered a fraction and her small body hunkered down ever so slightly as she let him know with body language that she considered him in charge. He reaffirmed his love for her with a lick to her muzzle and a cheek nip of her ear meant to tease and play. She was a good sister to him and he a good brother to her in turn. He would not scrap with her today although sometimes either she or Keldava got a bit too cocky and he had to take them down a size. He wasn't mean when he did just a gesture, a raising of the lips or a small growl, their dominance games had not yet escalated to the seriousness of a true fight where blood was drawn and bodies were scarred and damaged beyond repair. Just the idea to him was unthinkable, he didn't think there would come a day when such animosity developed between them that it would come to that. He would like to think them beyond that but he would know that if such a thing did occur then their relationship would have to be very fractured and broken, on the borders of nonexistent.

The pup shook his head to clear it of all the adult thoughts, sometimes it was nice to think as a kid as he sometimes did, free from the weariness that his adult mind sunk into. The voices and whispers had aged his brain beyond his body, he had seen things, things they had shown to him that would have made other puppies cry and scream and at first they had scared him too but now he was used to them and they didn't frighten him anymore, he had to grow and mature to be able to deal with the images he saw.

He charged after her as she raced away a waving flag of black for him to use as a guide for the direction they traveled in. To such small children the house seemed absurdly huge, a enormous amount of room to play in and invent games. They reached their destination and Honrin looked down upon the pictures that Dalgina had drawn with the leftovers from the fire in the heath. She was the artist of the family as Pandora was the actor and singer and he the spiritual guide eventually. Keldava was the dark horse, nobody knew yet which rank she was aiming for as she kept it to herself, a mysterious girl it seemed.

Honrin allowed his features to contort into a proud smile, she had drawn this all by herself! His tail waved high in the air behind him, as tall as it would go to show his pride in her.

"I see, it's very good. You show me how you did it?" He asked of her, giving her an opportunity to show off her talent even more, encouraging her to practice and become better with positive reinforcement. He dabbed his own paw into the fire dust in a show of enthusiasm for the activity they were engaging in.
