Eyes flaked with innocence, her expression was flustered when Severus spoke to her. Aoi looked up at him with some admiration, and his comforting words made her feel a little more at ease. The only reply she could give was a shy smile. So they both didn't have a parent around...that was something in common. Though the way he said it, she was sure that his father was still alive. Her mother wasn't. She missed her mother dearly, as Noir had been the only role model she'd had in her life, despite Noir doing terrible things. When Aoi grew older, and she began to understand more, she'd realise that what her mother did was terribly wrong. She had children purposefully when she knew she was months from death, to carry on her lines. She knew she was going to die but she had pups all the same, abandoned Miwa and let Aoi watch her die.

Miwa lived here? Recognition, surprise, and ultimately relief flashed through her dark chocolate eyes, and putting two and two together, she realised what must only be the truth. Alaki lived here also, for sure now, confirmed by Severus; and Miwa must have been sent to live with him. So her father wasn't just a ghost, a phantom figure. He was real; she knew that now. Alaki's my father, isn't he? she looked at Severus, and then to his mother who was now introduced as Naniko, and finally to Finn, as if they had the answers. After a pause, the young jackal wolf probed further. Do I look like him? she was well built and tall for her age, with a broad chest and long legs. Her dark fur seemed common to her, and when she saw herself she didn't like what she saw, but she'd love it if a part of her came from her dad.

After licking the face of the red deer, and the reaction she got, she became quite hurt. A very sensitive girl, she stared at the deer as he backed away, muttering something in low speech. Alastair was his name, she learnt. Because Aoi like Alistair, of course. she snorted back. Once her sister had been abandoned, she'd become a lone child of sorts, and deer and rabbits and other low-speakers had become her only friends. She was only just getting the gist of it, but she could speak in short, clipped sentences at least. Her gaze flickered to Finn and she gave a thankful smile, though meek it was all the same.

Her gaze now slipped between Naniko and Finn. As Finn approached closer, as summoned by Naniko, she took a slight step back; but the distance was not because she thought the others to be hostile. Simply preferring personal space, her short ears flopped down on her head and she locked eyes on the two women as they decided something about her. The cut on her paw aspect made her eyes narrow, but she wouldn't have objected if the cut had been necessary. If it was what was good for her, the child would have accepted without doubt. What was a little pain, when if not accepted into the pack, she would die by herself? At her young age, she needed a parental figure to look after her, else she'd either die or become hard and void of emotion. I'm not an oprhan... was the one thought that ran through her head. She grinned to herself eagerly, glad of the new found knowledge. Finn refered to her as an Itou, as family, and it was all she could do not to squeal with delight. She'd be one to hold family very dear as the time went on. It seemed now, that all she needed was confirmation from Naniko. She assumed Naniko was the leader; top dog, and that was why Finn seemed to look up to her. Aoi secretely hoped she was nice enough to let her stay with her family.
