Blaise followed Kansas to the meeting, Kansas sat by Artemis and Blaise sat by Kansas. (: 471

Something was happening. Blaise knew when she saw the wolves of her new home filing from within the manor and all around it, to the white yard before the porch. For a while she was too stirred by the sudden gathering to do much more than prop her paws on the shoulder of the sofa and watch the group of wolves slowly swell on the other side of the window. The meeting was fascinating but she was intimidated. She had seen most of these creatures in her exploration of the territory near the Manor, but never had she seen them all in one place. It was strange enough to live among so many, and stranger still to see them all in one spot, all family, all big and strong, and most utterly unknown to her.

The child leaned against the spine of the sofa, green eyes large. She could not possibly sliver out the door unnoticed, as the affair seemed to her very serious and very important. An interruption might irritate them to the point of disliking her. She felt she must go, but there were so many of them and she could not bring herself to leave. Confused and filled with inexplicable dread, she sunk down onto the cushions, eyes brimming with tears. It had appeared as though no more would come, except that one was absent. Kansas, whose presence along with Anu's and Artemis's had become most obvious to her, was nowhere. This meant little to her, for she knew him no more than she knew Anu, but since he was mated to the sable-furred leader, she thought it odd that he wasn't at the meeting, too.

The thought had distracted her suffering, but when it passed, her chest began to hurt again. A small sad chirp came from behind the couch, drawing the curious white male to the sitting room from the bottom of the stairs. He grinned at the girl and beckoned her to him, telling her he was late too and would take her outside with him. Soothed, Blaise jumped silently off the couch and followed right on the snowy wolf's heels.

Kansas sat a few feet from his silver daughter and the green-eyed pup crouched beside him. Slyly, Blaise eyed each of the wolves, staring into their faces, trying to determine why they were all here. In their faces were no emotions that she could immediately recognize and they spoke of things that made no sense to her. Eventually she realized that they were worried. She looked up at Kansas for an explanation more satisfying than her own, but he was staring at his mate, frowning. When the whelp at last gazed forward, she saw that the ebony woman was definitely upset. She did not understand, and soon she too wore a grimace.
