Pripyat is a brat who doesn't smile, but he loves Noah all the same XD 450

Noah did not offer the customary Ichikan greeting as Pripyat had almost expected, but then why should he? The man was not unwelcoming with his own bow and smile, but the lack of the proper word falling from his lips irked the younger of the two. Staring, unsmiling, at the man before him Pripyat Soul was suddenly aware of their physical similarities. For all the genetics Geneva and Jefferson had put into the boy he bore a coat of silver and eyes of blue, and though they did not match the exact shades and tones of the Sawtooth man they were more alike than they were different. Even as the battered older man continued on, the younger one grew his own scars and scraps and soon enough might look as worn as Noah. Yet they were not of blood, but something near to it. A shared heritage and home, or they had been once.

It's home. The words sent Pripyat reeling, though from the outside one could scarcely tell. His heart pounded almost angrily in his chest and his mind began to race, trying to piece together the puzzle that might explain how the Valley had once been home to Noah, and Ichika had too been home and now this New Dawn was also home. Perhaps Pripyat too was the same as Noah, for he had left the Valley behind, but there had been no choice there. There was no Valley left. Jefferson had up and left, taking Phoenix Valley with him. The boy hadn’t minded then, not with Arye by his side, but now he marveled at how easily one soul could move from location to location to location yet again and call them all by the same name. Yet the only indication that the words set something off within the boy was a gentle flicker of his ear, barely there at all.

And then the man turned the boy's own question upon him, and Pripyat shrugged nonchalantly at his elder. This words came swift and without thought. "I am content in Ichika." His voice was growing gruffer, as were his spirits, and perhaps in that way only he was becoming more like his father. "I belong in Ichika." Yes, of course he did. Where else would he belong? And where else did Noah really belong then? Pripyat peered at him, and though he knew the man was set and stubborn in his ways and already settled into his new home, Pripyat's own mind was not settled or stable and he couldn’t help himself, allowing his almost forgotten vulnerability shine through just then, just for that small moment when he asked. "Why did you leave? Why'd you come here?"
