Something was wrong, Hotaru could feel it, literally. His body grew tense when she asked how he was doing. Light didn't answer her question and she felt the slight tilt of his head as he averted his eyes. His voice held a strange tone, as if there was something he wanted to say but couldn't. Even though he tried to reassure her there was still something about his voice that made her pause. What was he hiding from her. There was some hidden emotion buried beneath his fur and muscles. Was it anger? Sadness? Guilt? She wanted to know what was wrong, to fix his wounds and heal his heart. Hotaru cared about Light and it was difficult for her to simply drop the subject.
Unlike the blind wolf, Light was eager to move on, and she let him. The clever hunter managed to move the topic to something she had desired for so long. He was offering to teach her how to hunt. Hotaru had been working on the project herself for quite some time, and failed at each turn. Yet she knew this forest, and Light was an expert hunter. Hotaru's eyes glowed and her tail rose in excitement as it waved slowly back and forth. Really? You'll do this for me? Her words were breathless from anticipation. It was something she had desired for so long, and with Light's help Hotaru held hope for a successful trip.
