As the grey wolf walked the chain bounced against her bag, the soft thump easily felt by the blind wolf's enhanced senses. Before she lost her eyesight, Hotaru was like everyone else. She used her eyes and ears for just about everything. Her nose was the second most important sense, with her sense of touch at the bottom with her sense of taste. However, after she lost her eyes every other sense was heightened to the point that it became easy to overwhelm her with a sensory overload. Over time Hotaru had become a little more use to the heightened awareness and she found herself picking out small details like the chain bumping against her bag.
The other thing Hotaru paid attention to was the approaching footsteps of the wolf she had smelled earlier. The strange wolf's scent was intermingled with the scent of others, meaning she was from a pack. When the female called out to Hotaru she was half tempted to just keep walking and act like she was deaf and blind. Despite herself, the blind wolf stopped and her head turned towards the stranger. Her red-tipped ears twitched on the top of her head and faced forward as she listened carefully to every sound the stranger made. The call was friendly enough, although why the wolf would call out Hotaru was a mystery to her. "Hello. Can I help you?"
Fawkes had been enjoyed flying in, out, and between the buildings. They created unique wind patterns that made flying fun and challenging. Yet, his fun came to a close at the appearance of a strange wolf. The black and white female had called out to his master, meaning that Fawkes should stay next to Hotaru and protect her. Winging about Fawkes flew quickly back to Hotaru and landed on her should with a powerful grace. He easily folded his auburn wings and stared at the stranger. She was far enough away so he didn't need to yell at her, but she was still close enough for him to be wary.
