Diamonds and rust

Sebastian set up the road at a fairly fast walk, letting his hips sway only slightly. He stayed slightly ahead of the Romani, perhaps slightly closer to him than strictly necessary. He didn't speak much aside from pointing out several landmarks that they passed, such as the apartment block that had been burnt to a crisp and the school that had a massive oak tree growing out through the roof. Naturally, Sebastian also kept himself alert. Trying to seduce a stranger was all very well, but he'd gotten bruises before when he'd misjudged how frightened some men got when another man started hitting on them.

Still, he didn't get any bad vibes from Drakien. Only wine, a cosy cellar and some unnecessary touching would tell for sure.

They reached the house within ten minutes. It was in good condition, all things considered. The roof and walls were intact, and the floor was completely solid and secure. At least, it hadn't dropped into the cellar yet.

Sebastian entered the house like he owned the place and bent over very deliberately to lift up a small rug and open the trapdoor that led down to the cellar. The electricity-box had stopped working, so the Italian didn't bother flipping the switch. During one of his many trips to the cellar from Casa di Cavalieri, he'd brought matches and candles back to Halifax and left them on the stairs and down by the base.

He lit a candle with no trouble and smirked at the Romani. "My apologies for the darkness," he said cheerfully, not sounding sorry at all. "There are more candles down here." Without any more ado, Sebastian padded down the creaky wooden steps.

He reached the base and lit several candles he'd arranged around the small part of the cellar he'd dared to explore. Three on the ground, four on the wine racks. By the time Sebastian blew out the candle he had carried down with him, the pair of foreigners had plenty of illumination.

Sebastian picked up a bottle at random and swiftly twisted the cork off with his ever-present corkscrew. It was obvious that he had spent plenty of time in this little cave. Even more so when he picked a wine glass up off the floor and offered a generous measure to Drakien.

At last, Sebastian flopped onto the frayed bean bag he had carried down and stretched out luxuriously. The artisan poured some wine for himself and took a deep drink, placing the bottle between the couch cushion that Light had carried down and the bean bag that he was currently sprawled over.

"Have a seat," he offered, shifting a little lower on his bean bag so that he could rest his head. "Are you pleased?"
