The weather had been perfect these past few days, and Skoll spent a lot of his time basking out in the sunlight. To those who knew the golden prince well, it came as no surprise, but others called him out on teenage laziness. In reality, though, the young man meant well and spent a lot of his time helping his mother and sister around the house when he was not doing something related to the cavalry for his father. It was just that the Haskel-Catori residence felt crowded sometimes, what with the children constantly getting into trouble, especially now that shifting had unlocked new opportunities for them. He did not think that he would move out anytime very soon like his older brother had, but it helped to take a break and just lay outside.

Today, however, it was so peaceful that he had fallen asleep while sunbathing—and was woken from his nap by a foot on his stomach. Grunting, the wolfdog sat upright and glared at the pups who were grinning back at him. Of course, those he sought to avoid would find their way to bother him. He loved the children dearly and was excited to help take care of them like Liam had taken care of the younger trio, but was it too much to ask for a break?

“What d’you think you’re doing?” the boy demanded, though his stern voice faltered and a tiny grin betrayed his amusement.

One of the kids barked happily. “We’re gonna pick flowers for Grammy! Wanna help, Unka Skoll?” And with those beaming eyes and that wagging tail, he didn’t think he could deny them, no matter how far they had to walk for flowers.

The young canines grabbed the freshest and brightest flowers they could find and made their way back to the house, the children running around the sun prince’s legs, almost tripping over each other at one point. He didn’t think there was a time when he hadn’t been that full of energy; even now his endurance had grown into a great asset, and it was hard for him to tire out (at least physically, though mentally was another matter altogether). He laughed and helped usher them through the door once they reached their destination.

“Hey Mom, Mara,” Skoll greeted affectionately, squeezing his large body in through the doorway; he wasn’t a towering giant, not quite reaching seven feet, but he was a healthy size as was expected from his bloodline. With his trademark cocky-but-kind smile, he pulled his hands from behind his back and offered the two women a batch of flowers he’d specifically chosen.
