Crudddyy post.

A casual greeting brought the tawny woman out of her thoughts, and the hand that had been clutching at her pied chest dropped down onto the stump as she wiggled, lowering herself to take a seat on it as she spotted Helotes. Her lips quirked upwards even as her tongue continued to loll out of her mouth in a pant from the effort. She waved to him in lieu of a verbal greeting as she caught her breath, but once she could breathe normally, Vesper said bluntly, “You smell like horse.”

A quick glance around showed the cause of that: the man’s pale, dappled mare was wandering off toward some uncovered grass even as he approached. She grinned suddenly then jumped off the stump altogether, her balance remarkable for one who was unused to her bipedal form. She walked carelessly across the ground, as if oblivious to the generally creepy feel of the ruins.

“I was trying to get some practice in,” she explained in answer to his question, regardless of if he’d intended for it to be rhetorical. “There’s still a lot of room for me to improve.” She had no trouble admitting this to him after he’d proven once that he could kick her ass. She wanted to work harder, hard enough to meet the standards of those in the Bellum tier. She didn’t want it said that she was useless when it came to the final line of defense, even if her job was to prevent such conflicts from even happening. Fighting had been her original passion, after all.

Once the lithe woman reached her side, she nudged him lightly with an elbow. “And you? What’s up with you?” Vesper asked, her tone boldly friendly though there was some gentleness behind it. After all, Zana seemed to be gone, and she’d heard that the pygmy had gotten along with the dusky warrior. To what extent was something that she was less certain about, but she was vigilant enough to notice that Helotes hadn’t been his raucous self since.
