Since she had taken to the idea of learning how to tend to injuries and heal wounds, Artemis had been doing more reading than she could ever remember doing in her life. It had never been a hobby of hers, and though she could read in two languages, it had simply never been her favorite thing to do. Now, though, she knew it was necessary because otherwise, she could not learn how to heal properly. Experience was good, like the bit of it that she got with the coyote woman, Aeron, of Anathema. However, it was good to have a technical knowledge of how to help others when they were injured, and so she had found as many books in the library on healing as she could. It was probably not a secret anymore that she wanted to become a medic, but she still did not know how her older sisters felt about it. She really hoped that they would not be upset.
She closed the book in her lap, tilting her head back onto the couch behind her and closing her eyes. She sat on the floor in front of the piece of furniture, enjoying the warmth of the fire in the hearth, her legs crossed and slowly going numb from sitting in one position for such a long time. With a sigh, Artemis rose, stretching her legs in the process, attempting to shake off the tingling feeling that shot up both of her lower limbs. She stretched her arms out above her head, dropping the book on the couch cushions, yawning loudly. Tossing her head back, she tousled her long, curly hair, allowing her body to fully relax after cramping up so much.
The smell of blood permeated the air, though it was not a fear-inducing smell of wolf blood, but rather, the blood of a prey animal. Artemis turned curiously, but there was no one outside, and so she walked to the door, opening it with an easy-going gesture. “Oh, hey, Oak,” she said, seeing him as he approached. “How are you?”
