X’yrin watched the amusing dynamics of the pups same as a handful of the spectators but with a soft smile. The boy was clearly not interested in what the little one had to say and went on exploring until the woman’s words were heeded. Both looked at her, with the boy rushing toward to take a seat by her side. The little girl was timid in her approach, keeping very close to the boy almost pressing herself into him as if the mold with and hide inside him. X’yrin looked at this behavior curiously, wondering if perhaps the little ones had been scarred somehow… or at least the little one to be so fearful. If that was the case, they were quite bold to be stepping out unescorted into the heavy crowd.

‘Are you ready?’ X’yrin jerked her head up when spoken to, not realizing that she had been staring at the pups for quite some time. She felt her face grow warm as she was fixed by the elder’s stare then hurriedly nodded for him to proceed. “Yes sir.” Macarius returned the gesture, then slowly spanned his hand across the mat of downturned cards. ‘Very well then. There are nine cards here… choose three and I will tell you what the spirits believe is in store for you…’

Again, the Seiki was far from entrusting her future to these earthbound spirits, but for the sake of participation, she would oblige the elder and try her hand. She leaned forward to look at the orderly set card, not knowing which one meant which, or in what order to pick them. In the end, she believed it was all but a game so there was no harm in choosing blindly. Carefully, she reached out and placed her paw over the top middle card then slid it toward the elder. When she reclined back, she looked down at the curious pair then gestured with her muzzle toward the cards. “Why don’t you each pick one for me?” she smiled. “I might have a better fortune because of you two…”
