Patiently she waited for the remaining to cards to be selected for her, all the while continuing to watch the interaction between the children. They were quite the opposite of each other. One was large while the other was punish. The male had a boisterous attitude while the little girl was small and meek, careful and caution almost afraid that her very presence would disturb something yet to be seen. She was the more levelheaded and well mannered, though painfully shy as she sought the comfort of the male pup as soon as she selected a card. “Thank you,” she smiled to the pups then raised her paw to lightly bother their ears.

Turning to Macarius she raised her head with brows risen in curiosity, anticipating the fortune spelled out by the cards. The elder muttered some strange mantra as he collected the three cards in his hands then placed them before the trio to exam. X’yrin had no idea what they meant, but trusted it something mystical none the less. As the elder beckoned her closer, she inched forward with an ear raised in curiosity. Was her fortune so secret that it couldn’t be told to everyone? Or was this yet another part of the trick? ‘Just say something…’ the old mystic whispered, the gestured with a flick of his ears toward the awaiting pups. She had to force her eyes not to reflect her understanding as she pulled away then brought her gaze down to the pup.

“Well this is interesting…” she began, shifting her gaze from the pups to the encompassing crowd. “It looks like it wasn’t my fortune, but yours little ones!” She heard a handful in the crowd snicker at her false fortune but kept quiet as she spoke on. “Macarius claims that on the morrow your day will be filled with happiness and a great gift will be yours. How lucky you two are…”
