Mentioned a gift certainly put the woman in an interesting position. While the word hadn’t been meant in a tangible sense, she should have known that to the young mind something that sounded anything like a present would be taken literally. She simply hadn’t had enough experience with children to know this immediately. And when the inquired about this ‘gift’, the girl meekly and the boy assertively, X’yrin felt the heavy weight of her ears drop and stilled as her throat went dry.

“Oh…well,” her voice was soft as she attempted to grasp for something, anything to continue this little play along but came up considerably short. Discretely she cast a glance to Macarius, hoping for some kind of outlet to get her out of this fix. But his skewed brows and partially tilted maw wordlessly conveyed that she was clearly on her own with this mess. She sighed in defeat then turned her attention to the pups once again. “Well…” again she tried to grasp for something. “Why don’t we see?” Swiftly the towering female rose to her feet effectively the paws of the standing patrons behind her as she splayed her legs to support her weight.

With equal caution and mind to the feet around her, she curled her way through and out of the closing crowd, calling over her shoulder to the pups. “The fortune doesn’t say what will be yours, but perhaps we can find something the two of you are meant to have… and ‘share’.” She placed such emphasis on the word that even a dense wolf would know she was directing her words to the selfish boy. She could only assume that this ‘Leon’ was their caregiver if he would be used as a threat against the other. Perhaps a disciplinarian, she assumed when hearing the tattling octave of the young female. Perhaps she could find a way to keep these two out of trouble…
