She had definitely noticed the boy losing some weight more recently - if she'd had a camera and photographs to mark the weight loss, she would have been rather surprised at the differences between the two pictures. She was glad that her son was growing and gaining muscle, becoming a more active member of the pack...and she was also proud that he was honing his skills while he did it. Some canines saw hunting as simply a way to get food..but Naniko saw it as more. She saw it as a way to train canines in the most efficient ways to bring death to another creature. Would it be with a bite to the throat? Deep gashes that caused prolonged blood loss? Or maybe it would work best to attack from above or knock a creature out with a large rock before going in. Someday, he might have to use those hunting skills to defend the pack against outsiders who sought to destroy their way of life.
The female had just left a large stag in the food storage area and was heading back to her den when she heard a peculiar sound - someone whining. Her ears perked at this sign of distress and she hurried, trying to figure out where the noise was coming from. That was made apparent to her when the form of another canine came out of the dim light, crawling toward her den. She didn't recognize the halfling from the distance that she stood at, and gave a long growl as she rushed toward the foreigner. Then she recognized him, though, and stood just outside of her den with a concerned expression. "Octavius? Are you..OK?" She asked quietly, unsure of what she could do.
