Got a gypsy soul to blame

Maggie first, later Eris as discussed ages ago? <3 She left AniWaya on the 23rd, and Marit was already told. <3 1,073 sosu ramble.

This was the closest she had ever been to her sister’s pack, and Foxglove was nervous about it, certainly. She feared that her hopes would not be met with a positive response; she knew that her sister’s pack was not exactly the most welcoming of packs. Still, though, it was where her only family was and it was where she wanted to be now. As she neared the borders to a pack that, admittedly, frightened her a bit, she clicked her tongue, gently tugging on Valeria’s silky mane so that the mare would slow. The journey had only taken a few days, for they had rested infrequently and she had driven the mare forward with an urgency that was not questioned. The unspoken hurry was answered only by the beating of the champagne mare’s hooves on the ground, the movement swift. It seemed that the horse understood her desire for distance and speed.

Of course, they stopped often enough for her to hunt at least once a day. It was not for her benefit; Foxglove could go for long periods of time without eating. It was for the sake of the three kittens that she stopped and hunted. She did not want them to suffer simply because she could not remain in the tribe any longer. When she stopped to hunt, Valeria was given time to rest and graze, and it was a beneficial arrangement for all of them. Szellem had flown ahead of them to scout of the area, and she smiled now as he came to rest on her shoulder. She lifted her hand so that he could perch on her finger and she smiled at the bird spirit fondly. It had never been expected that he would leave the tribe with her, but she was so glad that he had chosen to do so.

It was nerves that stopped her from calling for Magnolia as soon as she approached. Her larger sister did not know that she was coming, as the gypsy girl had not told her that she wanted to leave the tribe. It had been a quick decision, and now that she was facing her sister’s pack’s territory, mysterious as it was, Foxglove worried that she should have brought the idea up with Magnolia at some point. What if her sister did not want her around? The gypsy hybrid knew nothing about the pack her sister resided in, except that they were secretive and Maggie could never leave. She was walking in blind, but she was willing to take the risk to feel safe.

The decorated woman slid down from the mare’s back as Szellem fluttered up and rested on her shoulder once more. The kittens were mewling loudly in their bag, but she adjusted the position of it on the horse’s back, propping it up against the other bag that contained all of her meager possessions, most of them just skirts and scarves. The blonde hybrid was biding time, she knew, putting off the moment that she called for her sister out of pure nervousness. Though she had no basis for thinking that her sister would turn her away, it was a very real fear for her. She had been betrayed by the very tribe that had offered her home and sanctuary. What would stop her sister’s pack from doing the same? Quickly she shook her head. That was hardly a pleasant thought, and it was nothing she wanted to think about now. It was too late to worry about that.

Although the bird spirit never pressed her to do anything sooner than she was ready, Foxglove knew that he wanted her to make the call now. It was the only thing she really could do at this point. Taking a deep breath, the gypsy girl lifted her muzzle to the sky, calling in her wispy song for her sister’s presence. The sun was only just beginning to set and she hoped that Magnolia would not already be busy. Hopefully her sister would recognize her voice and would come as quickly as she could. Foxglove hoped she would not have to wait for long; it made her nervous that she was so close to a foreign pack that was known for not being friendly to strangers and that held its members in a firm grasp.

Foxglove did not know what she would do if her sister or the leaders of the pack turned her away. She had washed herself as best as she could in the salty ocean water, though it had been freezing cold. It had been worth it, though, as the scent of the tribe had been mostly washed away from her fur. Still, it was not easy to hide that she had recently belonged to a pack, and she had not even had the ability to tell the tribe’s acting councilwoman about her decision to leave. She had fled in the night, not speaking a word to anyone, leaving no trace but her already fading scent. It was nothing she was worried about, though, for she knew that they would never look for her. After her imprisonment, no matter what Ayasha had said, she had not been a member of the tribe anymore in their eyes. She had pretended for long enough, fighting to believe that she still belonged, but it had been a lie that she was telling herself, and it was time to stop pretending.

She hoped that her mother would have been proud of her for leaving somewhere that was not safe for her, a place that had treated her so terribly. While she waited for her sister to answer her, she allowed her eyes to settle on the bald bracelets of pale pink skin that encircled each wrist. It had been months, and yet, they still had not grown the fur back. It seemed as if they would be a permanent reminder of the injustices she had suffered, but she made no effort to cover them. She had suffered much at the hands of Maska and his guardians, and so she would wear them as badges of what she had endured. The secret of why would stay with her and with Magnolia; she did not wish to share that her blood had caused her such torment unless she absolutely had to. What the tribe had done to her did not have to remain a secret, but the reason, it did.
