Shawchert didn’t move when the door opened nor when the woman spoke. He was silent when she spoke, though he couldn’t say much of anything without his tongue. Her words weren’t unkind but her voice was reserved, was this a new tactic? To be nice and gentle now? Well it wouldn’t work on him. He huddled on the “bed” he had and lowered his head, watching her, he bore his teeth a little, but did not move. No he knew he would be killed if he hurt anyone but a slave. Even then he wasn’t sure he was allowed to touch another slave. That wasn’t the pressing matter at the moment though.
His eyes moved to the bag she had on her. He was curious and at the same time not so much. What did she have in store for him? The “medicine” they could have was probably more ways to torture him. He didn’t know he had beed lightly patched up before brought here and now he was feeling the pain of his leg, still broken and healing wrong and his hip which was the same, though disjointed. He was scared of what this woman would do to him, and he was really powerless to do anything about it, he couldn’t run. He couldn’t even move. All he could do was huddle up and hope things went better than they were sure to happen.
