Communication through gesture she feared was a lost art among their kind. While words were so readily available and in ample supply, it seemed pointless to converse through a nod of the head or flick of the tail. But while words provided a refreshing ease at and times a pleasant melody to the ears, it paled in comparison to the language of their ancestors, when words were considered frivolous and the whisk of the tail was the common tongue.

And how glad she was to play along, letting her expressions speak for her as opposed to the literal tell through words. As always when with her friend, she was reminded of her time as a wanderer, scouring the lands with silent tongue, taking what she could underpaw as she explored the vast lands a Nomad could only dream about. Reacquainted with that part of her heritage still alive and well, she felt only joy, endless measures of it as it doubled countless times over and encompassed her wholly. Her tail was a blur as she circled in place on the tips of her paws following the coyowolf’s movements as she acquired a makeshift pedestal and put herself on display. The registration of rank came slowly, passing through the crevices of recognition until they were acknowledged by the conscious mind and the bright light of understanding lit both eyes and face excitedly.

The female about leapt in place as she recognized a higher ranking staff and felt her heart swell with pride for her student. Ascension was always a matter to be praised and recognized for the struggles endured to attain that standing. In lieu of a celebration better fit to congratulate, she lifted her muzzle and sang in honor of her dear friend. Her name flowed on melodious tones garnished with adoration and love and pride for her accomplishment. She sang to her ancestors to beg they bestow their protection to the young female as well as their blessing of a long and fulfilled lifetime. By the recession of her song, the golden female was grinning like mad, tail whipping wildly before she bound toward her friend’s side and playfully pounced for her shoulder.
