Millions of years, where it all began

Jaden’s aim was true even in his currently injured state. Flexing his shoulders to pull power into his bow string, he noticed for the first time where the black fighter had ripped at his flesh. He could feel the hot blood trailing down his chest and wetting the fur on his ribs. He let the strung arrow fly with a wince. The shaft would have flown strait for his intended secui target had the woman before him evaded it entirely. He put his own hope, however detrimental it seemed, into his opponent and she had so nearly let the arrow fly free. But it grazed her. The slight course correction was more than enough to let the arrow fall away from it’s target harmlessly.

The attack had been intended to be a martyred attempt to save his leader. Had the now crazed-looking white eyed wolf dodged his arrow as intended, Jaden would have been left with no time to defend himself from another attack. Even after he missed he was still left with no time to dodge. A powerful kick struck the bow in his possession, destroying it with a loud shattering of wood that spattered the archer and the woman with sharp splinters. The shock of impact on his hands was painful and his reaction was to pull them back, leaving him open for the follow up kick. It hit hard and knocked the man flat on his tail. He followed the fall back into a roll and stayed low when his paws found ground again. The earthy colors of the forest and the powerful sounds of battle seemed to be crushing down and his entire body felt like it had been trampled by a horse. He was loosing this fight and he knew it. He had to find a way out before one of the dark wolf’s kicks landed hard enough to break him.

Jaden had already curled into a defensive crouch by the time he realized his opponent was running away. The shock of such it froze him in place, completely dumbfounded with black and gold gauntlets at the ready. She was obviously a better fighter and he was most vulnerable now…

His ponderings were cut short when he noticed Terra snap at the dark optime. With her injuries it seemed like a stupid move. But her eyes found his and he realized her intent. She wanted him to escape. They were retreating.

The bloodied man stood and took two steps before stumbling to his knees. The pain in him was worse than he had expected and as he looked down he realized why. Two three-inch long splinters of his smashed bow protruded out of his body, one from his thigh and one from his left bicep. He yanked one after another free from his frame with a few successive curses and pushed up again, charging away from the hostile group as fast as he could. He glanced at his comrades as they disappeared into the land and wanted to follow but the distance between them was quickly filled with pursuing Salsolans. Instead, he cut to the far right and decided he would just take a slightly longer way around to the boarder. Adrenalin assured that he was still quick on his paws despite his injuries and he knew Terra’s distraction would help him dissolve into the forest’s shadows and hopefully without attracting any more attention.

Jaden does. Jaden speaks. Jaden thinks.
