Admittedly his choice of retaliation was unexpected but not to the point of completely distracting her in awe. None the less, she was impressed by his ease in his counter even if it was made in hesitation. Had this been a lesson, undoubtedly she would have sought to correct this err and encourage that his mind be still and assert its certainty, but this was not such a lesson. It was a show to the other of their present skill set. And hers was unique.

Provoked into attacking, she was placed in a position she was trained for; defense. Be not the attacker but the defender in order to subdue the advancing party. And there her capabilities would truly shine. The shift of snow beneath them caused an ear to twitch attentively before her she felt the pressure of his sweep to her left leg. Had her teeth found purchase on his wrist, the loss of balance would have compelled her to clamp down harder and bring the boy down with her in the tumble. But if there was naught but air in her jaws, the leg would crumble beneath her, forcing her down to a knee but not vulnerable.

Upon impact she would jab again aiming to take out his left knee and bring him down to her level.

Sparring:
