Regner plodded happily through the snow, his hefty frame causing him to break through the crusted surface unlike lighter wolves, but also providing him with the strength to wade through it without undue effort.

What was unusual was that the scarred old dog was currently in his Secui form, a form he usually reserved for sleeping and lazing about. Recently Adelle had been displaying an interest in learning how to fight, pestering her grandfather insistently about the subject. Since Adelle had been doing well with her speaking, both Danish and English, Regner had decided to accommodate her and had brought the puppy out into the woods.

Even with Adelle's recent growth spurt, which put the puppy at nearly double the size for a puppy her age, the size difference between the two was laughable and any serious training was impossible. Nonetheless Regner had spent a while play fighting with his granddaughter, though it was likely that she had learned little if anything from it both of them had enjoyed the experience so Regner considered it a success; he had had little to do the past two weeks beyond tending to Adelle and it did him some good to get himself a little more active.

Regner was pleased to find that when it came to physical exercise he could still outlast his granddaughter, even if only just managing to do so. His current walk was taking him back towards Kingsbury, the village just looming out of the trees now. Adelle was curled up on his back, the puppy having wedged herself into the thick, wiry fur that ridged Regner's back in his Secui form, and was currently dozing, her eyes lazily wandering the landscape as Regner passed it by.

Regner's tail began to wag as Kingbury came better into view, drifting lazily from side to side as he considered his new home. While Regner found the inactive lifestyle he had been forced to adopt to account for his own infirmities and to take care of Adelle stifling he did like his new home, the stone walls providing exactly the sense of security he had been looking to provide to Adelle.

A long yawn ripped itself from Regner's throat, displaying an impressive set of teeth to anybody who cared to look, and the elderly hybrid found himself looking forward to getting home not only for Adelle but for himself, making plans to retire either to his home of to the fireplace that he had taken to haunting recently, resting in front of the warm flames. As much as Regner would like to deny it playing with Adelle had tired him out, at 12 years old he wasn't as young as he used to be anymore.
